ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Louisa Sawyer Lindquist
“Louisa Sawyer Lindquist started Verdad Wine Cellars in 2000, with a vision of making Spanish grape varietal wines grown on the Central Coast of California. Louisa started learning about winemaking working in vineyards on the East end of Long Island before moving to California in 1992. 2020 was her 21st vintage with Verdad.”
ABOUT THE VINEYARD: Slide Hill Vineyard
Slide Hill Vineyard is in the SE corner of Edna Valley, one of the valleys with the longest, coolest growing region in california. It was grown on a rocky and steep site.
“The Albariño vines can trace their lineage directly to Bodegas Morgadio in the Rias Biaxes region of Spain. Brian Babcock brought the cuttings back from Spain in the mid 1990’s. We purchased cuttings from Brian in 1996 and propagated the Ibarra-Young Vineyard with 150 sticks we purchased from him. Eventually this grew into two acres of vines. With these vines we propagated cuttings and planted this clone in the Sawyer Lindquist Vineyard (now know as Slide Hill Vineyard) in Edna Valley in 2005.” - Verdad Wines
